My CP claimed that all sheriffs and police officers are represented by PORAC ( Police Officers Research Association of California ) and they all participate in this organization. Apparently, PORAC pushes certain issues of legislation to fight laws that restrict their authorities.
As far as my CP is concerned, they should not be too pushy on those subjects because their job is to enforce all state and local government rules. Besides, the only major issues that the sheriffs department has is when it comes to budgeting, which leads to the increase in crime.
This is as much information that I could gather thus far.
